New business owners often seek training to managing their business. Other major concerns for entrepreneurs and small business owners are the lack of capital and/or poor site selection. Poor credit and little or no financial management skills are issues often faced by socially and economically disadvantaged business owners.
Through the business assistance offered at the Urban League of Greater New Orleans businesses gain the skills for success. The Women’s Business Resource Center (WBRC) and the New Orleans Entrepreneurship Center (NOEC) offer one-on-one counseling, classroom training and special seminars. Other programs we offer are:
- Capital One Bank’s "Getting Down to Business IDA Program" which ensures our small business partners have access to information, resources, mentors and financing that can help them grow and succeed.
- Goldman Sachs "10,000 Small Business Initiative" which focuses on management training to emerging business owners.
It is the mission of the WBRC and NOEC to improve the economic vitality of the region through job creation and thus increase business revenues through business, marketing and strategic planning. All programs are available to male and female entrepreneurs regardless of nationality or ethnicity with the goal of aiming to strengthen their business enterprise and increase their capacity for success through training, strategic alliances, collaborative resources and improvement of their management skills.
